Shelter animals help Pet Alliance during ‘First Dig’ groundbreaking for new Orlando shelter

ORLANDO, Fla. — Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando broke ground Tuesday on its brand-new shelter.

The organization suffered a devastating fire in 2021 at its old shelter on Conroy Road. Officials said at least 13 cats died and the old building was destroyed in the fire.

The new facility will be built on John Young Parkway.

The Pet Alliance had some of its four-legged friends take part in the “First Dig,” to kick off the project.
