ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A sexual assault case against Chris Leak, the former Edgewater football coach, was dropped Friday, Eyewitness News learned Monday.
Police said the accuser, a 16-year-old girl, and her guardian told investigators that they did not want to press charges.
Leak, who is also a former Florida Gators star quarterback, resigned from the high school the same day a police report was filed accusing him of a forcible sexual offense.
The police report and Leak's employee file detailed the accusations by the teenage girl. The girl said Leak asked her to give him a massage in the athletic trainer office. She said the massage escalated to him moving her hand to touch his penis.
The teenager told the school resource officer that she walked out when that happened.
The girl also said Leak later took her to get food, gave her a ride home and then gave her friend $100. The teen said she told her friend about the alleged incident.
He had been teaching on a temporary three-year certification, which was issued in July.
Channel 9's Lauren Seabrook asked the Florida Department of Education if his license was affected by the investigation now that it's closed. An official said the department is checking on it.
Leak’s attorney told Eyewitness News that he wasn’t aware that the case had been dropped.
Leak is married and has children.
