I-4 reopens after deadly early-morning crash

ORLANDO, Fla. — Interstate-4 is back open after Orlando police investigated a crash overnight Monday.

10:45 a.m. update:

Police announced that the injured motorist died at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

The Orlando Police Department also said that another person was involved in the crash, but was not hurt.

OPD said its Traffic Homicide Unit continues to investigate the crash.


8:00 a.m. update:

Orlando Police posted on social media that I-4 westbound was reopen after being closed for about 4-hours Monday morning.

OPD also posted that one person was transported to a local hospital in critical condition, and no injuries were reported with the other cars involved.


7:15 a.m. Monday update:

Drone 9 has been flying over the crash scene and reports that one lane of westbound I-4 appears to be open to motorists.

Orlando police said the crash happened early Monday at Michigan Street, forcing the closure of the westbound lanes of Interstate 4.

The crash involves serious injuries, according to Orlando Police Department.

OPD said the westbound lanes of Interstate-4 at Michigan Street are expected to be closed into the morning traffic rush.

Drone 9 is on scene to monitor traffic conditions caused by the crash.
