SANFORD, Fla. — Because of the coronavirus pandemic, high school seniors are missing out on things many of us looked forward to having throughout our time in school, such as prom and a senior breakfast.
Seniors at Seminole High School in Sanford were treated to a twist on breakfast this Cinco de Mayo.
Teachers lined up outside the food court at Seminole Town Center and welcomed 850 seniors with cheers of congratulations.

Signs, bubbles, and at the end of the line, a free lunch from Chick-fil-A.
“It's really special since a lot of things were taken away because of COVID-19,” senior Zoey Reddecliff said.
Seminole’s principal dubbed it “Cinco de Pollo.”
“I think to the kids, it’s very meaningful,” said Seminole’s principal Dr. Jordan Rodriquez. “And to the parents that we are going out of our way to think of things for them to do to get out of the house, have something unique for the senior class."

Not only are the seniors able to fulfill a tradition but they are also helping out a struggling business in the process, through school funds which were allocated to a senior breakfast and local donations.
All the money went to local franchisee, Chris Redmond to give him a much-needed boost to his business.
“Honestly, we are so humbled to partner with Seminole High School and celebrate the seniors,” Redmond said. “We are so thankful for everything they have done in our community, everything they do for our team and we are excited for their future.”
