SEMINOLE, Fla. — Seminole County is moving forward with a $40 million project to replace aging traffic signals at more than 80 intersections across the county.
County officials started inspecting traffic signal mast arms in 2015 and found widespread rusting due to lack of protective coating during installation. Temporary signals were used while replacements are installed.
Work focuses on 50 county-owned intersections: 5 rebuilt, 10 under construction, 7 in design.
The replacement timeline spans multiple years due to technical requirements. County officials state that the design phase alone takes approximately nine months, while construction at each intersection requires another year or more.
