Among the pets available for adoption is Peako, an 11-year-old cat weighing in at 28 pounds.

The shelter said Peako is declawed (and can not run very fast) and would have to remain an indoor cat.

“We encourage his new adopters to help him slowly lose weight safely so he can enjoy a healthy life,” the shelter said.
