SANFORD, Fla. — A Sanford man is facing charges of attempted murder after police said he intentionally attacked three family members with a sword.
Sanford police said they responded to a home on Spanish Bay Drive around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday and found Gary Campbell pacing out front. Inside, they said they found his mother, father and sister all suffering from severe wounds.

Officers said all three family members were transported to a hospital with severe injuries, with his parents’ injuries being the most severe.
Investigators said based on interviews with Campbell, they believe he intentionally attacked his three family members with a katana sword.
Police said Campbell was arrested and charged with two counts of attempted first-degree homicide and one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
He is expected to make his first appearance in court on Thursday at 2 p.m.
