Man dies after Seminole County head-on crash, troopers say

SE,MINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — A man has died following a head-on crash Sunday, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the crash happened at about 9:30 a.m. in Seminole County.

A Mitsubishi Mirage was traveling westbound on State Road 46 approaching Richmond Avenue, while a Ford F-150 was traveling eastbound on the same road, according to a news release.

Investigators said the driver of the Mitsubishi tried to turn left and traveled in front of the Ford truck. As a result of the impact, the Mitsubishi was pushed into a ditch.

Troopers said the 66-year-old Mitsubishi driver and the 69-year-old passenger were transported to HCA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital. The driver was transported as a trauma alert with serious injuries and the passenger was pronounced dead.

The Ford driver, 52, was not injured and remained at the scene.

FHP is still investigating the crash.
