SANFORD, Fla. — A man died after he was shot in the chest during a deputy-involved shooting in Sanford, Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma said.
Deputies said the call came in just before 2 a.m. at a home in the 400 block of Riverview Avenue.

Lemma said a neighbor called 911 after she heard a woman crying for help.
Deputies said the call was a domestic dispute.

Lemma said deputies had trouble finding the scene because the woman left the home.

Deputies said a 27-year-old man came out of a home with a gun raised at them.
Lemma said the man fired one shot at deputies. Deputies then returned fire and shot at the man 15 times.
The man, later identified as Samuel Kirk, suffered at least five gunshot wounds, Lemma said.
Kirk was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

Lemma said the man and woman met at a bar.
The woman told deputies the man rode his bike to the home. She said the man picked her up, slammed her to the ground and choked her before she could get away from the area.
No deputies were hurt in the shooting.
