SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Seminole County commissioners have made a surprise change at the top of county leadership.

Interim county manager Joe Abel is out and county attorney Bryant Applegate is in.

Abel was put in charge after former county manager Nicole Guillet resigned in September and took a job at the Orlando-Sanford International Airport.

Abel planned to retire in June, but county commissioners decided it was in the best interest to replace him now ahead of the search for a permanent replacement.
