SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. — Pop-up COVID-19 testing in Oviedo reached capacity Wednesday, which prompted Seminole County health officials to add an additional day of testing in the area next week.
Officials said they think a large cluster of positive coronavirus cases in the area may be tied to the reopening of bars near the University of Central Florida.
Since last week, Seminole County coronavirus numbers have continued to spike. Officials said most of the new positive cases are young people in their 20s. Since June 8, right after bars began to reopen, 116 people in Oviedo have tested positive for the coronavirus.
Officials said most of the people who have tested positive in Oviedo said they had been to a bar in the UCF area recently.
Testing on Wednesday was available at Carillon Elementary School, about a mile from UCF. Officials said testing there will resume Tuesday to meet the increased demand.

Two restaurants in Seminole County have announced to customers that they may have been exposed to COVID-19 and shut down for a deep cleaning. But a couple of bars in question in Orange County in connection with these spikes have not announced anything on social media, although they did temporarily shut down after receiving the news, officials said.
