SANFORD, Fla. — A Seminole County man known locally as the "junk man" pleaded guilty to a charge of probation violation after he missed a court deadline to clean up his property.
A short time later, he changed his mind and rescinded his plea.
Alan Davis, after pleading no contest to felony dumping charges, was ordered in February to clean up his property near Altamonte Springs, which has been a source of ire for residents in the city for more than a decade.
He was charged with probation violation when, by April, nothing had changed, officials said.
Davis represented himself for much of the hearing Friday.
After taking the stand and unsuccessfully attempting to cross-examine himself, Davis asked for an attorney.
Just after 4 p.m., Davis pleaded guilty to the probation violation charge.
