See where Orange County Library System plans to open new branches

The Orange County Library System offers many library locations throughout Orlando.

The Orange County Library System plans to spend more than $16 million to open a pair of new branches on opposite sides of town.

Members of the library’s board of trustees on June 9 approved leases for 20,000-square-foot branch locations in southwest Orange County’s Horizon West area and in southeast Orlando’s Lake Nona community.

The Lake Nona branch will be part of the city’s southeast government facility proposed on Dowden Road and the library will lease the building from the city once completed, with the option to buy it in the future.

The Horizon West library will be part of the 250-acre Horizon West Regional Park, with its location to the north of Bridgewater Middle School along Hamlin Groves Trail.
