Ben Hewitt said a coffee company is a combination of two parts of his background.

The chairman and founder of Corkcicle — an Orlando-based canteen and drinkware maker — wanted to find a product that had the recurring revenue model of his first business, HR outsourcing space CoAdvantage, with the direct-to-consumer features of Corkcicle. He did that by going into the consumable business, which has the features he likes from both.

“I thought the consumables space would be interesting, and the biggest ones are gas and coffee. I wasn’t ready to get into gas, so I looked at coffee, which is a crowded space but it’s a very large market.”
