PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Four people were arrested after jumping over a fence and breaking into a “secure zone” at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia during the Democratic National Convention, authorities said.
The incident was reported at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, about an hour and a half before former President Bill Clinton was scheduled to speak at the DNC, the Secret Service said.
The four intruders were immediately arrested without incident by the Secret Service and Philadelphia police, officials said.
The four were not able to gain access to the arena, the Secret Service said.
The suspects, who were not identified, face federal charges of entering a restricted area.
They were taken to the Philadelphia Federal Detention Center and will face a judge on Wednesday.
