BREVARD COUNTY, Fla — The Salvation Army got a huge surprise when someone dropped $10,000 in several red kettles.
That generous donor is still a mystery, but the cash has been found in at least four kettles so far.
Those who head the Salvation Army in that area of Brevard County are certain it all came from the same person.
For folks there, it's both a blessing and a mystery.
In the room where holiday donations are counted at the Salvation Army headquarters in north central Brevard County, Salvation Army Captain Angel Calderon and his team found several bundles of $100 bills totaling more than $10,000.
There's striking similarity that has them thinking it all came from the same person.
It has to do with how the money was placed in the kettles: Each and every stack of hundreds was folded inside a $1 bill.
Calderon knows the donation could have come as a check.
He believes the cash is proof the person behind it wants to remain anonymous.
He said the act of kindness says a lot about whoever is responsible for handing over the $10,010.
"I don't look at the donation for the money they are putting in the kettles, I look at the donation for the intention of the heart," Calderon said. "This specific donations impact a lot my heart."
Although every donation counts, in his 15 years with the Salvation Army he said he'd never seen something quite like this.
