Weather Alert Day: Tornado warning canceled for Brevard, Osceola; severe storms still expected

ORLANDO, Fla. — Today is a Weather Alert Day.

4 p.m. Update:

Tornado warnings for Brevard and Osceola counties have been canceled. Threats of severe storms, with strong winds and hail, are expected to continue through the evening. Stay tuned to Channel 9 for weather updates throughout the evening.

A tornado watch has been issued for east Central Florida, including Brevard, Lake, Orange, Osceola, Seminole and Volusia counties.

Meteorologist Kassandra Crimi said it will be quiet and warm for the first half of our day.

After lunchtime, scattered showers and storms will start to develop.

The east coast sea breeze will supercharge some of our storms by our evening hours.

Our beach communities should be on high alert this evening.

We’ll have thunderstorms capable of producing damaging hail and wind.

Isolated tornadoes can’t be ruled out, either.

Overnight and early Sunday morning, a second round of storms will sweep across the area bringing another chance of severe weather.

Make sure you have multiple ways to receive alerts overnight, as nocturnal severe thunderstorms and even nocturnal tornadoes are possible.

Sunday afternoon will be breezy but quiet. A nice stretch of weather will take over for most of next week.
