Police said the community has come together on Sanford 327, a Facebook forum, and has helped aid in their investigation of possible incidents with a prowler.
“So, we’ve recently been made aware of a number of instances that have occurred within the last, at minimum a week or so in the area on the east side of the city,” said Sanford police PIO Bianca Gillett. “Incidents involving, you know, at a minimum a suspicious person kind of around residences, possibly looking in windows.”

On Tuesday night, police confirmed two reports of what would be considered a Peeping Tom prowler activity that is currently being investigated.
“Some of the posts have suggested that he’s doing inappropriate behavior in addition to looking through windows,” Gillett said. “Yes, unfortunately, last night the instances that were reported did raise to that prowler, indecent exposure type situation.”
Activity has been reported in the Mellonville area, 20th Street, Park Street, and 17th Street, police said.

Police are asking anyone with a similar encounter, a suspicious person around their house, or window in the last week or even two, to contact the Sanford Police Department.
Gillett added that reporting it on Facebook is not the same as contacting the police department and giving them the details.
“So, we again want to work with our community, our public, provide us that information, those instances so we can have accurate information,” Gillett said.
