SANFORD, Fla. — Sanford Police have arrested two suspects and issued an arrest warrant for a third in connection with the homicide of Terance Darnell Pope, a 21-year-old who was fatally shot in a Best Buy parking lot.

On Thursday, investigators arrested Khalil Hunter, 22, and Shunavious Dorsey, 21, on charges of robbery with a firearm and first-degree felony murder.
Both are accused of involvement in Pope’s death, which occurred just after 8 p.m. on Dec. 17 outside the Best Buy at 1501 Rinehart Road.

Officers responding to the shooting that night found Pope suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
Police have also identified James Nelson, 22, as a third suspect in the case. An arrest warrant has been issued for Nelson on the same charges of robbery with a firearm and first-degree felony murder.

Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith called for public assistance in locating Nelson, stating, “The pain that Terance’s family is feeling is a pain that no family should feel. If you know something about the location of this criminal, you need to speak up now. These three suspects did not hesitate to take Terance’s life; they all need to be located and taken off our streets.”
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information about the case or Nelson’s location is urged to contact the Sanford Police Department or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
Tips made to Crimeline are anonymous, and information leading to the resolution of homicide cases may be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000.
