FHP: Man, 20, killed in Orange County crash involving Corvette out for a test drive

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — A 20-year-old man died in a crash on Sand Lake Road on Tuesday morning.

The crash happened around 10:30 a.m. on Sand Lake Road near Sand Lake Pointe Loop in the Pine Castle area.

Troopers said the 20-year-old killed was an employee of a nearby car dealership and he was taking a 2013 Corvette for a test drive when the crash occurred.

Troopers said the Corvette was traveling above the posted speed limit when it crashed into a 2023 Honda Accord that was attempting to make a left-hand turn.

After the crash, troopers said the Corvette ran off the roadway and overturned into a ditch, landing on its side.

Troopers said the 20-year-old driving the Corvette died on scene. A passenger in the Corvette, a 22-year-old Orlando man, also an employee of the dealership, suffered minor injuries. Troopers said the driver of the Accord was not injured and remained on scene.
