Runners rejoice! runDisney announces return of in-person races

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Big news for runners -- and even bigger news for runners who love all things Disney -- runDisney has announced that in-person races are coming back!

The pandemic caused the cancellation of numerous annual racing events held at Walt Disney World, sidelining thousands of runners for more than a year.

And while road race enthusiasts will have to wait a little longer to dash into Disney nirvana, runDisney has revealed the light at the end of the virtual racing tunnel, releasing dates for four different in-person events.

It’s time to mark your calendar:

Resort officials note that because COVID-19 guidelines could change before the return of on-site running in November, some adjustments may be made to upcoming race weekends in comparison to previous years.

However, runDisney is quick to add that fans can rest assured many of the “magical” things that have made its race events so sought-after for decades will continue, including running through Walt Disney World theme parks, special entertainment and themed medals.
