Rip current warnings issued at Central Florida’s coast for Memorial Day

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — Central Florida’s coast will be busy Monday, as people head to the beaches for Memorial Day.

Officials are advising visitors who are planning to go into the water to make sure they swim near a lifeguard.

Beach safety officials said they pulled dozens of people out of the water over the weekend, including 59 swimmers on Sunday.

So far it’s been a very busy holiday weekend, and even more people are expected at the coast Monday.

This all comes as rip currents remain a risk.

Volusia County Beach Safety said it flew the red flag all weekend.

Lifeguards said the strength of rip currents moving into Monday, and the early part of this week, is only going to increase.
