Hulk reopens after riders rescued from stalled roller coaster at Universal

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Hulk roller coaster is open Wednesday after riders were stuck for more than two hours Tuesday.

About a dozen riders waited to be rescued from the Hulk roller coaster at Universal's Islands of Adventure Tuesday night.

Orlando firefighters were called to the ride when it stalled around 5:45 p.m.

Rider Leon Occean, 12, didn't realize the roller coaster was stuck when it suddenly stopped.

"After that it was like 10 minutes and they made this announcement that they were having technical difficulties," Occean said.

About 20 riders were able to walk off themselves onto a platform, officials said. The remaining 12 waited for firefighters to reach them using a ladder truck.

"They had the ladder thing and they could only take like two or three people at a time, so it took quite a while until they got to the front row," Occean said.

Occean's parents said they panicked after first learning that the ride had stalled.

"I was freaking out and what got me a little more scared, is you start to see the fire truck come in, you start to see the ambulance come in," mother Renette Vedrine said.

No injuries were reported. Theme park officials said a technical glitch caused the ride to stall.
