The Park at Napoli is by the intersection of Goldenrod Road and University Boulevard, not far from Full Sail and the University of Central Florida.

New mother Tayha Baez said she found black mold, dog hair everywhere, fleas and cockroaches when she and her family moved into the complex.

After reporting the problems to property management and corporate owners Blue Rock Premier, Baez was asked to put down a second $750 deposit to move into a different unit.

The new unit also has black mold.

In the months since, Baez said she’s tried to work with the property but “they don’t fix it, they just ignore you.”

She’s still paying $1,500 a month to live there, and is worried about the impact the mold is having on her 4-month-old son.

“He wakes up with a cough, he’s throwing up a lot,” she said. “I feel like I’m just paying them to kill him.”

The renter-led organization Orlando Tenant Power said they are working with a group of a couple dozen residents who want to see the issues there taken more seriously.
