ORLANDO, Fla. — A new report from the White House claims Florida makes up 20% of all new COVID-19 cases in the U.S.
The report also claims those cases are the highly contagious delta variant.

Local health leaders are also raising the alarm and said they see a spike in cases.
Seminole County Emergency Management’s director, Alan Harris, said that three weeks ago, the county had 300 COVID-19 cases. But by this past Friday, there were over 1,500.
Harris said they expected a spike after the July Fourth weekend, and it’s happening.
Officials said the three hospital systems in Seminole County – Orlando Health, AdventHealth and Hospital Corporation of America – are seeing an increase in the number of COVID-19 patients, but they’re not anywhere near overrun yet.

They also said most of those patients are unvaccinated.
Harris said local health departments are offering the COVID-19 vaccine, along with pharmacies and True Health.
