Remembering 9/11: See list of Central Florida events marking the 20th anniversary

It’s been nearly 20 years since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Here is a list of local events to mark the 20th anniversary.

Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts

9/11 20th Anniversary Remembrance: Gabriel Fauré's Requiem

The Bach Festival Choir and Orchestra will perform a program of commemoration to honor those lost 20 years ago in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Longwood

A commemoration ceremony will be held at the Heroes Monument at 235 West Church Ave. on Saturday in Longwood.

The event will honor those who were killed in the 9/11 attacks, and mark the passage of two decades since the day that changed our lives forever, officials said.

Apopka

The city of Apopka and the Apopka fire and police departments will be hosting a 9/11 Memorial Ceremony on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the Apopka Amphitheater.

The event will honor American civilians and our fallen firefighters and law enforcement officers.

It will be streamed on YouTube for those who cannot attend in person.

Ocoee

The Citizens Advisory Council of the Ocoee Police Department is commemorating the 20th anniversary on Saturday at the Withers-Maguire House at 16 E. Oakland Ave.

Clermont

The city of Clermont will host a special 9/11 memorial ceremony on Saturday. It will be held at 10 a.m. at the Clermont Arts and Recreation Center.

Winter Garden

The city of Winter Garden will host a 9/11 tribute on Saturday.

The event will be held at Winter Garden City Hall from Sept. 8 to Sept. 11.

ICON Park

ICON Park will be offering free rides on The Wheel for police officers, firefighters and paramedics, and 50 percent off tickets for their families today through Sunday.

Officials said The Wheel will also be lit up like the American flag all weekend.
