The Central Florida Tourism Oversight District, the overseeing leadership of the Reedy Creek Improvement District, appears to be making its play to consolidate power back under its control nearly a month after it was discovered Disney had made a similar move.

Orlando Business Journal obtained a document dubbed “Resolution No. 639″ that appears to be designed to gives the district “superior authority” over comprehensive planning, zoning, land development regulations, environmental protection regulations, platting and subdivision regulations and more for the district, including in the cities of Lake Buena Vista and Bay Lake — where Walt Disney World is located. The resolution also appears to do away with the district’s planning board and replaces it with the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District board as the “final decision-making authority” with “no further administrative appeal ... available.”
The date of April 19, 2023, noted on the resolution suggests it may be taken up by leaders at its upcoming meeting on the same date.
