ORLANDO, Fla. — In less than two hours after opening, Publix closed its COVID-19 vaccine appointment portal.
The appointment portal opened Friday morning at 7 a.m.
Florida residents who are over 65, residents and staff members of long-term care facilities or health care workers were eligible to make a vaccination appointment.

Several Publix stores across Florida offered the vaccine, including stores in Brevard, Flagler, Marion and Volusia counties.

The stores will give out 100 to 125 vaccines per day, and an appointment is required.

Residents have to provide proof of residency to receive the vaccine.
Publix is not allowing residents to make an appointment by phone; they must make an appointment online.

If you were unable to make an appointment Friday, Publix said it will reopen its registration system at 7 a.m. on Feb. 10.
