Publix to expand to another Southern state

Publix Super Markets Inc. has set its sights on the Bluegrass State.

The Lakeland-based grocer on Tuesday said it has signed a lease for its first Kentucky store in Louisville at the northwest corner of Terra Crossing Boulevard and Old Henry Road in Jefferson County.

It will occupy 55,702 square feet.

Publix real estate prototypes range from just over 20,000 square feet to nearly 60,000 square feet.

The store is slated to open in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Kentucky is the eighth state in Publix’s Southeast footprint.
