ORLANDO, Fla. — Power outages are one of the big concerns as Hurricane Ian is projected to impact Central Florida.

Heading into the hurricane season, there was a lot of uncertainty about whether utility companies in the state, could get the supplies they need.
Crews will be out Tuesday to make sure everything is working properly ahead of the storm.
They are working to get out and in place ahead of the storm and before any power issues that might arise.
Over the summer Florida’s emergency management director warned that supply chain issues could lead to delays in power restoration after a major storm.

Hurricane Ian has that kind of potential.
Utility companies are blaming the COVID-19 pandemic and said they only have the basic essentials to restore power.

Some items, including transformers, are in short supply.
In some cases, transformers that used to take three to six months to import can now take more than two years.
In Central Florida, power companies like OUC and KUA said they are ready to get the power back on if outages occur.
