As positivity rate goes up in Florida, so does demand for testing

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — On Friday, more than 78,000 people were tested for the coronavirus statewide, the highest number recorded so far.

On Monday, the Orange County Convention Center testing site reported 1,858 tests.

“Coronavirus

“Nothing to this scale has ever been done before,” said Mike Jachles, Federal Emergency Management Agency spokesman.

The Orange County Convention Center testing site has seen long lines as positive cases continue to rise.

“As the positive cases started being more prevalent, we have seen more people who want to get tested,” Jachles said.

The regional testing site has the capacity for 200 tests an hour, and anyone from the area is welcomed to get tested there.

“What we want to ensure at the end of the day is everyone who needs a test, wants a test gets a test,” Jachles said.
