PORT ORANGE, Fla. — A Port Orange police officer is recovering Tuesday afternoon after he accidentally shot himself in the calf, police said.
The shooting happened around 11 a.m. at the New Smyrna Beach police training facility on Airport Road in New Smyrna Beach.
The officer’s name has not been released.
Police said the shooting appears to be accidental while conducting training at the New Smyrna Beach police shooting range.
The shooting is under investigation.
No other details have been released.
