A 50-year-old Lakeland motorcycle officer died on his way to work, according to deputies with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Paul Dunn was driving his Harley Davidson around 5:45 a.m. when the motorcycle collided with a raised concrete median near Lake Highlands Road. Dunn then lost control of the motorcycle and crashed, according to deputies.
Officials said Dunn was transported to an area hospital where he later died.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
It isn’t known if another vehicle is involved.
