ORLANDO, Fla. — A political committee is spending over $1 million to legalize recreational marijuana in Florida.

The Smart and Safe Florida committee recently paid a signature-gathering firm to get nearly 900,000 signatures.

That is enough signatures to put a constitutional amendment on the 2024 ballot for voters to decide.

The proposed amendment would allow anyone 21 or older “to possess, purchase, or use marijuana products and accessories.”
