DeLAND, Fla. — A DeLand High School student was arrested after police say he posted a threat on social media.

Police said they were contacted by a parent who said the student had made threats that there was going to be a shooting at DeLand High School Monday.

The student — who has not been identified — was arrested Sunday.

DeLand police said that while parents would see an increased police presence at the school, they stressed there was no active threat.

Investigators said this was a good example of “see something, say something” and thanked the parent who contacted them about the threat.
