Acting Police Chief Vincent Ogburn said during a news conference that an officer was initially trying to stop a speeding driver on Clarcona Ocoee Road, but the driver turned into a subdivision near Crooked Lake Trail and North Hiawassee Road.
He said the driver later turned around and began driving toward the officer’s pickup truck head on, so the officer fired at the vehicle through the pickup truck’s windshield.
Ogburn said the driver fled from the scene and has not been found. He said the vehicle is silver and could have bullet holes.
The officer was uninjured in the shooting.
