Police: Pedestrian struck, killed by SunRail train in downtown Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Orlando Police Department is investigating a collision between a SunRail train and a pedestrian Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to the railroad tracks at the intersection of Jefferson St. and Gertrude Ave. just before 4:30 p.m.

According to police, a Southbound SunRail train hit the pedestrian on the tracks.

The unidentified pedestrian was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead there.

Police say they’re still trying to determine what caused the accident.

The police department has closed both Washington and Jefferson Streets in both directions while they investigate.
