EDGEWATER, Fla. — A Cocoa man who led police on a chase through Volusia County may have been planning other crimes, according to investigators.
Edgewater police said officers spotted a van with a stolen license plate along South Ridgewood Avenue and Roberts Road on Wednesday afternoon.
When officers attempted to pull the van over, the driver sped off.

With the help of the Volusia sheriff’s helicopter, officers were able to locate the van broken down near Oak Street in Edgewater. The driver was nowhere to be found.
After a search, officers found Joshua M. Donna, 29, of Cocoa Beach hiding in a nearby yard.

When officers searched Donna’s vehicle, they found an Airsoft pistol, face mask, gloves, a wig and a note with instructions to turn over money.
Police charged Donna with aggravated battery on law enforcement, aggravated fleeing and eluding, reckless driving, theft and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Donna is being held in the Volusia County Jail on no bond.
