Police investigating fatal shooting in Marion County; suspect still at large, police say

OCALA, Fla. — Police are investigating a fatal shooting that happened overnight in Ocala.

Ocala Police said they responded to the 1200 block of SW Fort King Street around 2:05 a.m. in reference to a shooting.

According to police, 42-year-old Searron Brooks was found with a single gunshot wound to the chest when they arrived.

Brooks was transported to the hospital where he later passed away from his injuries.

Police said this shooting appears to be an isolated incident.

Ocala police are asking anyone with information on this shooting to call detectives at 352-369-7000 or

submit an anonymous tip to Crime Stoppers of Marion County at 352-368-STOP (7867).
