LAKE NONA, Fla. — A former Orange County assistant principal already demoted over accusations of sending a co-worker vulgar texts, is now under police investigation, officials said.
Scott Peters was accused of sharing text messages with the principal of Dr. Phillips Elementary School in 2015 that referred to female teachers as “vaginas on fire.”
Orange County Schools did not say if the current criminal investigation was related to the texting scandal, but confirmed that Peters had been barred from campus.
Peters had been a TV production teacher at Lake Nona Middle School, but was placed on relief duty in December and is no longer in the classroom or around students, OCPS said.

Tricia Temple, whose son recently attended Lake Nona Middle School said she was glad Peters was removed from campus while the investigation was ongoing.
“I feel appreciative that they’re taking those measures for the safety of our students,” she said.
Temple was concerned, though, about the situation.
“We actually moved from St. Cloud back here for the school district, so it is quite disappointing to hear and see something like this happening,” she said.
Peters could not be reached for comment Wednesday.
