CASSELBERRY, Fla. — An investigation is underway in Casselberry, where a 55-year-old woman's body was discovered by her roommate in their home, police said.

Police were called shortly after 5:15 p.m. Tuesday to the Summit Village Condominiums on Semoran Boulevard near Red Bud Lake Road after the woman's roommate reported the death, Casselberry police Comm. Michael Schaefer said.

Police identified the woman as Pamela Rooks, 55, who was living with her on-and-off-again boyfriend William Pyle.

"My son just called me. He said, 'Mother, get over here.' I walked in the door, she's laying on the floor. He said, 'He and she got into a quarrel. She hit the wall, then she grabbed her chest and hit the floor,'" Pyle's mother said in a 911 call to dispatchers.

"(The complex) is usually very quiet, laid back," resident Edward Luna said. "Nothing happens. To know that something like this happened this afternoon, it's kind of scary."

Rooks death is suspicious, but detectives haven't determined if it was a homicide, Schaefer said.

"While handling this case, some things caused concern to the officers, so our detectives were requested to investigate further," he said. "Upon the conclusion of their initial investigation, the (victim) was released to the medical examiner for an autopsy to help determine the cause of death."

The death remains under investigation pending an autopsy.

No other details were released.
