WINTER PARK, Fla. — An Osceola County deputy left his gun inside a bathroom stall at the Winter Park Village movie theater Sunday night, police said.
The gun was found in the handicap stall of a men's bathroom at the Regal Cinemas just before 8:30 p.m.
The customer who discovered the weapon told the theater manager that the gun was positioned on top of the toilet paper dispenser between the wall and handicap bar.
The manager took the gun and removed the magazine which contained four 45 caliber rounds. Another round was loaded in the chamber of the gun.
Officials said the owner of the gun returned to retrieve it after he noticed it missing. He called police, who returned the gun to him at the police department.
Osceola County Sheriff’s Office officials said the gun was the deputy’s personal weapon, not a gun that was issued by the Sheriff’s Office.
A Sheriff’ Office spokesperson said, “We are reviewing the incident to see if there are any policy violations.”
Regal Cinemas has a no gun policy.
The business hasn’t said if it will press charges against the deputy.
