ORLANDO, Fla. — A driver on Wednesday morning fled after striking a Chain of Lakes Middle School student who was crossing a street to get to a bus stop, investigators with the Orlando Police Department said.
The crash was reported shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Robert Trent Jones Drive near Metrowest Boulevard and South Kirkman Road in the MetroWest development, police said.

An Orange County Public Schools spokeswoman said that the student wasn't seriously injured.
Neighbors in the area complained to Channel 9's Johny Fernandez that drivers speed too much in the area.
"Most of the cars do speed up and down, so knowing that you must run across that road is sometimes scary," Victoria Sanchez said.
Witnesses said the driver was in a white vehicle, but no other information was given.
The crash remains under investigation.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call Orlando police.
