The Largo Police Department shared more details about the death of two-year-old Jordan Belliveau, including the evidence stacking up against the boy's mother, who is in custody for her son's death.

Maj. Stephen Slaughter said Charisse Stinson "made significant admissions" about the death of her son, leading police to arrest her Tuesday night. Stinson initially told police her son had been abducted by a stranger, prompting a statewide Amber Alert.

According to an arrest affidavit, Stinson admitted to causing her son’s death during a “moment of frustration,” when she struck the boy in the face with back of her hand.

According to the affidavit, the impact “in turn caused the back of his head to strike an interior wall of the home. After the blow to the head, the victim suffered seizures during the night, which led to further decline [in his health], resulting in his death.”

The report goes on to say Stinson did not seek medical help, but rather took her soon to that wooded area and left him to die.

"Initially, there were parts of her story that the detectives felt were possibly not true," Slaughter said. "Parts of her story didn't make sense, but we know from working missing persons cases that sometimes people's recollections aren't good."

"During her interview, she would constantly change what she was saying based on the line of questioning," Slaughter said. "There was no feeling with them that there was any remorse, only her attempting to escape the reality of the story by making things up as she went."

Slaughter also addressed a sketch released Monday about a possible suspect named Antwan who abducted Belliveau.

"We do not believe there was an Antwan," Slaughter said. "We don't believe there was a white [Toyota] Camry -- that was all fabricated by Ms. Stinson to help cover her alibi what she'd actually done."

Police said they are still looking a different person, seen on gas station surveillance, who they believe may be a witness with valuable information about what happened.

"Her story about being in [Largo] Central Park was a deception on her part," Slaughter said. "In subsequent interviews she admitted she made up the story. The injuries were, by her own admission, self inflicted. In the time in question when she stated she was unconscious in the park, she was actually at another location, which is where we subsequently found the body."

Slaughter could not go into specifics into what information they received that led them to Belliveau's body.

Stinson appeared in court Wednesday afternoon to ask for a public defender.  She was denied bond.

Investigators do not believe anyone else was involved.

The investigation is still active and ongoing.

Slaughter said DCF had been involved in an investigation with the family, but had seen Belliveau the Friday before he died.

Original story:

A statewide search continued Tuesday for a missing 2-year-old boy who investigators said was kidnapped by a stranger.

A Florida Amber Alert was issued Saturday night for Jordan Belliveau. The child was described as a black male, 2 years old, 2 feet 6 inches tall, 30 pounds, with short brown hair and brown eyes.

Investigators said the child’s mother, Charisse Stinson, told them a man who said his name was Antwan offered her a ride Saturday night, but instead punched her in the head and took off with her son. She said she woke up hours later in the woods.

Following an extensive search, police issued an Amber Alert for the child.

Jordan was last seen in the area of Lake Avenue and East Bay Drive in Largo, Florida, wearing a blue shirt with "72" on the front, blue gym shorts with a black and white stripe, black socks, and black and white Nike sneakers.

Jordan has a partially healed cut on the underside of his chin and a birthmark on the right side of his stomach.

Investigators said Antwan is approximately 25 years old with brown hair, brown eyes, wearing a white tank top and black basketball shorts with an “AMD1” logo. He has dreadlocks and gold teeth.

Investigators focused some of their search near Stinson’s apartment.

“We have found some bloody items,” said Maj. Stephen Slaughter.

Dive teams also searched for the child in a nearby pond.

Largo police said Child Protective Services investigators have been to the apartment before for an abuse investigation. They said there is a long-standing history of domestic abuse between Stinson and the child’s father.
