MELBOURNE, Fla. — A 39-year-old Satellite Beach man shot three people at a Melbourne home on New Year's Day, the Melbourne Police Department said.
Police said they were called at about 2 p.m. to the home on Woodsmill Drive near Lake Washington and North Wickham roads after gunfire was heard.
Investigators said the victims are adults who are in stable condition.
Police said a set of 5-year-old twins -- a boy and a girl -- escaped from the home uninjured and ran to a neighboring home to seek help.

The children could be heard in a 911 call begging their father to stop shooting as he accused his wife of cheating on him.
"No, daddy. No. I don't want anyone to die," one of the children said.
Investigators said they arrested William Brian Stillwell on attempted murder and child abuse charges.
Police said Stillwell told detectives that he recently saw a video of his wife having sex with his best friend, telling police she was "a whore and he saw her cheating on him ... with his best friend on a recorded video on her phone."

Investigators said his wife and children had recently moved in with her parents after the couple separated last week.
Neighbor Phil McMahon told Channel 9 on Tuesday that the victims include a woman and her parents.
"I don't know how the father got involved, but he got shot," he said. "He came over to my house, told me to call 911. He got shot in the hip, was bleeding."
McMahon said his wife's friend had been having problems with her husband and was staying with her parents.

"She was in pain, and I know she had been shot twice," he said. "I just hope she's OK."
Melbourne police Lt. Shawn Eising said Stillwell peacefully surrendered to police after a brief standoff.
Relatives told Channel 9 on Wednesday evening that the woman's father has been released from a hospital and his wife and daughter are to undergo surgery Thursday.
Stillwell is being held at the Brevard County Jail without bail.
