Pilot hospitalized after plane crashes into tree in Mims pasture

MIMS, Fla. — A pilot was taken to a hospital Tuesday morning after crashing a Cessna into a large pine tree in a pasture in Mims.

The crash happened at about 10:30 a.m. near Deering Parkway and U.S. 1 after the pilot reported an engine failure.

Officials said the pilot, who was the only person aboard the plane, was pulled from the wreckage, wheeled into a helicopter and flown to a hospital.

It is unknown if the pilot was injured.
