People 60 and older among those who can register for Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine at Publix: Here’s how to sign up

People 60 and older are eligible are now among those who can make a COVID-19 vaccine appointment at Publix.

The company will open online appointments for the Moderna vaccine at 7 a.m. Monday.

Publix said educators, regardless of age, will be prioritized for the vaccine until further notice.

A new federal directive prioritizes “teachers, school staff, and childcare workers employed in preprimary, primary, and secondary schools as well as Head Start and Early Head Start programs (including teachers, staff, and bus drivers) and those who work as or for licensed childcare providers, including center-based and family care providers.”

Publix said wait times for other eligible groups may be longer than normal.

Vaccination appointments are available for the following people:

  • Long-term care facility residents and staff
  • People aged 65 years and older
  • People under 65 deemed extremely vulnerable
  • Health care personnel with direct patient contact
  • K-12 school employees
  • Sworn law enforcement officers aged 50 years and older
  • Firefighters aged 50 years and older

Residents have to provide proof of residency to be vaccinated.

Publix is not allowing residents to make an appointment by phone — they must make an appointment online.
