Police continue search for gunman in Palm Bay shooting that left 4 teens injured

PALM BAY, Fla. — Police continued their search Tuesday for the gunman who shot four teenagers Monday night in Brevard County.

Palm Bay Police arrived at The Park at Palm Bay apartments at around 8:30 p.m.

They tell us when officers arrived, four people were found with gunshot wounds. Residents told Channel 9 they heard as many as six gunshots fired.

Investigators tell us one of the victims is 14 years old, two are 15 years old and one is 18 years old.

The victims are expected to recover from their injuries, but police say they have no suspects and there is no known motive in the shooting.

“It sounded like -- out in the distance -- like five or six pops,” said Heather, a resident who asked that we only use her first name.

Heather has lived at this apartment for more than 10 years.

She told us that while she doesn’t fear for her safety within the complex, it’s a different story for her and her family around the city as a whole.

“I have children. I’m obviously concerned for them. It seems over the past couple of years it’s just been getting worse,” she said.

Resident Valentine Laino said he saw dozens of police cars, fire trucks and ambulances respond to the shooting.

“(There were) people crying and being comforted,” he said. “Everybody knew something was going on.”
