Otronicon returns to Orlando Science Center this month

ORLANDO, Fla. — A science festival and tech expo that has brought Central Florida’s brightest minds together to celebrate innovation and lifelong learning for more than a decade returns this month.

Otronicon will take place at the Orlando Science Center Presidents Day Weekend, Feb. 18-21.

The event will allow participants to operate highly specialized surgical robots, explore STEM careers and discover how the latest advancements in immersive virtual reality help us make the world a better place, according to a news release.

Guests will also have the chance to see how science and technology make the immersive experiences at Walt Disney World possible, and explore a virtual nature park through the fully immersive CAVEs exhibit.

For those more interested in deconstructing technology than interacting with it, Take it Apart at Otronicon will allow you to take a peek an see what goes on behind the screens.

The event began in 2006 as an opportunity to explore how videogame technology impacts how we live, learn, work and play. The video game aspect remains all these years later, with a game developer showcase and competitions.

Otronicon is presented by the University of Central Florida’s Office of Research. The four-day event lasts from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets are $21 for adults, $19 for seniors and students and $15 for children ages 2 to 11. Click here to purchase tickets.
