Students, activists speak out against Osceola County student being body-slammed by school resource officer

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. — Students and activists gathered Tuesday at the Osceola County School Board meeting to speak out against an incident last week where a 16-year-old girl was body-slammed by a school resource officer.

The group of about 20 initially rallied outside the meeting, then moved inside the administration building where the school board meeting is underway.

The video, which went viral, shows Liberty High School student Taylor Bracey slammed to the ground by school resource officer Ethan Fournier, who was trying to break up an argument between Bracey and other girls.

The group went into the school board meeting with a list of demands, including a full investigations into what happened.

“We’re also calling for every SRO in the incident to be removed permanently from ever being able to work near a student or a child in the future,” said David Caicedo, co-director of the Florida Student Power Network.
